Artist Spotlight: Sen Senra 🇪🇸
If I had to sum up Sen Senra’s sound, it would be smooth and sensual. I first came across his music while listening to the Playlist Radio of my Spotify playlist, “mellow”. His song, COMO el FUEGO, started slow and mysterious, gradually building up until the beat and vocals hit me all at once. Sen’s silky smooth falsetto was just floating, gliding over the guitar and percussion. And that was it, I was completely captivated and promptly added the track to my playlist.
Since then, Sen Senra has gained over a million monthly listeners as he continues to put out amazing music. After his breakout album, Sensaciones (2019), with hits like Ya No Te Hago Falta, COMO el Fuego and No Me Sueltes Más, Sen released Corazón Cromado in 2021. This album is more refined and even catchier than the last and is my personal favourite.
His newest album, PO2054AZ (Vol.I)., is the most experimental so far, featuring more vocal and sound effects, as well as the incorporation of audio clips and other languages (English and Galician). Here’s how Sen describes his newest project in his Spotify bio (translated from Spanish):
At first glance, PO2054AZ is the license plate number of an old Peugeot 205. However, behind this cryptic and enigmatic code hides Sen Senra’s most emotional and impactful journey. The Galician musician and composer’s new project moves with the times, like life itself. In PO2054AZ, the Galician artist draws inspiration from the nostalgia of the past, leading to his most brilliant project to date. Thirteen tracks make up the first volume in which you will discover the artist’s most eclectic songs, with an international sound that mixes urban music, American influences and his avant-garde essence.
A journey that begins with No Quiero Ser Un Cantante [I Don’t Want To Be A Singer], a strong and clear declaration of intentions, is followed by the hit, Uno De Eses Gatos [One Of Those Cats] ft. Sky Rompiendo (Feid, J Balvin…) and Completamente Loco [Completely Crazy], produced by Tainy (Bad Bunny, Rosalia…). These are accompanied by “certified Senra” songs like Blue Jeans y un Crop Top [Blue Jeans And A Crop Top] and Sin Excusa [No Excuses], along with evocative and exquisite pieces like Familia [Family] and Da Igual Lo Que Opine La Gente [Who Cares What People Think]. No matter how high the expectations, Sen has proven to be an artist with the ability to surprise and break molds. Only then can you start new trends, something only few are capable of. With the premise of not wanting to be a singer but something better, Sen Senra is one of the few and PO2054AZ is the masterpiece that confirms it.
